99GPGTX
I dont have much experience in this department....Iv had my old Panasonic 5.1 surround for many a moon. I did put a lil MTX 10 in a sealed box and have that instead of the sub that it came with. Im looking to upgrade to something a little more powerful/ clear. Budget $550. I may have a 7.1 reciever i could pickup for a decent price. But i dont have any info on it right now. Excluding that, id like to have a solid setup for my new apt. Mids/Highs more important to me, but i like my lows too (im sure the neighbors will too ) Mainly will be used for Music, but i want it hooked up to the tv/PS3 too (50In Panasonic Plasma Viera) AND, so i dont make another post. Justin248
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882120201 I have an Onkyo receiver and it is hands down the best receiver I have used next to my vintage Scotts. The clarity is astounding and for the price you cant find a better 7.1 home theater in a box. On the plus side it is an actual receiver and not one of those Blu-ray pieces that claim 1000 watts. There is also the possibility to upgrade the speakers as desired later down the road.
WillPwn4Food
Portable: if you wanna go spendy the Beats By Dre Pill is nice. Idk what the price is but JBL has a new portable one that's nice too. As far as home theater... Polk Audio all around. (2) Polk Monitor 55Ts floorstanding (1) 15c or 25c center (1) set of 35b or 45b bookshelf speakers. For receiver, onkyo or Yamaha are amazing. For woofer, either keep your current mtx, or get a Fosgate 12". Either way build a ported box tuned to about 30hz and you'll be amazed. I had the 100w Polk woofer but sold it and bought a 12" Fosgate r2d2 and tuned it to 31hz.... Sounds sooooo much better and gets 100x lower than any home theater sub will get, whether it's Polk, klipsch, or Bose. I'd put mine against any of them any day. beaker
Craigslist, you can get a lot of cheap home audio for next to nothing. Hell, I think I spend more on the wood for my subwoofer than I did on the whole 7.1 system.
