WillPwn4Food Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Just curious if there's a program out there that will show what frequency an enclosure will peak at, orif there's any good rule of thumb to make an enclosure louder. bassfreake Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 tune it to around 34 that seems to put them right about where they will peak right about where the sub peaks... and as far as I know bigger box/bigger port (within reason) means bigger volume Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. Noel989 Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 There's a few threads and videos about the smd imsg for finding the the tuning of the box Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/
WillPwn4Food Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 I can find tuning of an enclosure. That I'm comfortable with. Just curious if there's a cheaper way other than trial and error to see where a woofer will peak. I'll be (probably) running 4 skar vvx 15's in a wall. I want to tune right around 32. Just don't know if a wider vs longer port etc will adjust where it'll peak at. REVOofRustler Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 You can find how a specific sub will react to a specific box in WinISD by inputting T/S parameters and box specs. The problem is that it will show it will act in a completely open environment. So when you stick it in a car, things are most likely going to change. 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
WillPwn4Food Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 So with winisd it would in theory show here it'll peak if it's not in a vehicle? LordArcane Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 simple answer. there really is no easy/cheap way. the SMD IM-SG is the only thing i know of right off hand that will let you read/test in real time in the car your working with/boxes your working with, and subs. even tho you have 4 of the same subs they all have different t/s values, they will be pretty close to the same but, ya theres alot to do what your askin, theres alot of work to find out where your sub/box/car peak at
WillPwn4Food Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 Oh hooray! Haha. I guess it'll take a summer to make her a low end monster. LordArcane Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 its a lot of work but don't let it deter you from your goal. it all just takes time, your spending lots of money on amps subs and what not, don't want to rush it and mess something up the smd im-sg is about $300 so in my eyes its your best bet at REAL TIME numbers. i myself am for sure getting mine out of taxes just so i can have it and be able to test the boxes i make in different cars and what not
WillPwn4Food Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 Would best bet be to start with a longer, thinner port and progress to a wider, more shallow port? What's best way to slowly make those increments to test?
