Learn a Noob Something

So, looking at picking up a new battery. Mine seems to be dieing in my new car. Obviously thinking about picking up a nicer battery such as the SX D2400 so I can build out a descent system. Going to use as the primary battery so it claims it can supply 2500 watts. What I dont really understand, excuse my noobness, is the relationship between the output of the alternator and the input of the battery.

I understand that on a DC current you can basically take AMPS * Volts = Watts. So if I have a 110Amp alternator at 12 volts that results in 1320 watts.

So say I ran a 2000 watt system, the battery could keep up in terms of power output, but the alternator could not keep-up to charge the battery correct?

If you ran full tilt for a long period of time eventually the battery would die and stop picking up the slack, yes. Unless you are at intersections banging hard 24/7 you shouldn't have much to worry about and the battery should charge when there isn't too much of a load on your alternator like when you have the volume down or the bass isn't hitting.
