i need to lower the bass in the head units EQ in order not to distort my tweeters. this also lowers the bass to my mids and subs... should i look into a real after market cross over or use my amps cross over?

my mid/high amp has a full/low/high selector on it. when i go to high it stops all distortion but my mids then fall flat as there is no bass going to them. the cross overs that came with my alpines are pretty small and dont seem to be able to filter out all the bass. others have recommended looking at a processor but i see they are like 600.00 and thats more than i want to spend.

does anyone know of a cheap processor/crossover that will do what im looking for or have any advice on how i should proceed?

thanks.

Audio control, DD, or external active cross over. But on HP you should be able to control the mids on amp FREQ and fine tune with the HU. Remember your looking for mid range from that speaker, not nessasaryly mid bass. Kinda 2 different things. Its just going to take a lot of tuning and maybe active cross overs or an EQ.

I am sure other will more knowledge and experience will chime in.

i know that i can hear a flatness when i filter through the amp, i suppose maybe i am looking for more of a mid bass through the mids so maybe that my issue. do they make active cross overs that can support mids and tweets as 2 sets of settings?

so i replaced my MTX amp with a eclipse amp today and was able to fully remove all cross over control from the head unit. this amp has a built in tuneable cross over that works a treat. my sub is quite a bit louder and has better low end just from this. when i build a new box and throw an extra 1KW at it its going to pound.

nothing, gutted
