How can a car suck so badly, that box improvements gain nothing?!

I have a car sitting here, which has had multiple setups in it. its a smallish hatchback.

One install was doing about 144dB off a 1500watt amp, two 12inch subs....

The same box and subs were put in a different car, box was modified, rounded, flared, etc, and gained about 2dB in the other car.

Put it back in the first car, 144dB....

Same subs off about 3000watts gained basically nothing over the 1500watts in the first car, even though in the second car they gained about 2dB with double the power...

How is this possible?!?

Same two 12inch subs in a 3rd car, same 1500watt amp, 2.6dB louder in a much larger car! and at 10Hz lower?!

Seriously, how can a car fail so badly?!

Does the electrical suck?

Does it have bad window seals, a sunroof etc.?

Does he look like a bitch?

If you're comparing a trunk car to a van, that's a major difference. What works in one may just not work in the other.\

Two totally different environments.

A van is a nice big OPEN environment, a trunk car is the opposite.
