Sky Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 I have stock battery and alternator in my 99 f150. My battery has died on me over 30 times in about a year. I'm sure my alt isn't in the best shape either. So my question is if I were to buy a new battery and not a new alt would my battery get destroyed? Ill also be using a 3000 watt amp. From the sounds of it, you definitely need a bigger alternator and perhaps AT LEAST another battery. Edit: Look up XS power or kinetik or yellow top... those would be better than stock. I'm not sure how big your stock alt is, but 3000 watts is usually a bit too much for stock electrical. So I know your battery that you have now is dead or whatnot but i'd look into buying both a battery (to replace the one you have now) and an alt, preferrably a h/o alt. Sheena = pedobear

newb Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 If you buy a new bat and continue to drain it, yes it will be damaged. i would replace the bat, if you still have problems then worry about the alt.
