SoImVan Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 At first I wanted to go with 12s, but i feel like getting 12s in my trunk would be a bit of a squeeze. I have decided on 10s. Anyone have any info on some ported box specs that would work for the sundown sa-10s?
Joe X Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Here is a suggestion to work on rated power: Enclosure Specifications:Fb = 34 HzVb = 2.4 ft^3External Height = 12 inExternal Width = 33.5 inExternal Depth = 18 inPort Width = 2 7/8 inCut Sheet List:* All Dimensions in Inches.* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.External Enclosure Parts:Front & Back = 33 1/2 x 12Left & Right Sides = 16 1/2 x 10 1/2Top & Bottom = 33 1/2 x 16 1/2Shared Port Internal Assembly Parts:2 x Front to Back = 15 1/16 x 10 1/22 x Extension = 4 5/16 x 10 1/2 Assembly guide (generic dimensions): Important notes:- The 45s if you want to do them are 2 1/2" wide except the one/ones inside the port, if you want that let me know.- All trunk boxes built outside the car need to fit in their way in not just have the right dimensions.- The port needs 2 7/8" of free airspace in front of it for proper operation.- Setting your amp subsonic filter to 28Hz is suggested.
CXHBumpin39 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 either 10's or 12's, doesn't matter haha sundown is loud either way
SoImVan Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 Thank you Joe. I know we've discussed this before. This box plan seems to be an easy fit as well as a great design. Thanks again for the help.
Joe X Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Ok man, if you end up doing this with the 45s inside the port, let me know to give you some infos on how to do them.
SoImVan Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 Will the design be the same if i dont do them?
Joe X Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Will the design be the same if i dont do them? Seen many boxes perform well without them so it's up to you, if you end up doing them just do them as follows:

Hi Joe. Would it be too much of a problem to maybe adjust or make a box plan that is similar to this box designed for two American Bass TNT 10s? They lean more towards my budget. Help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks.
Joe X Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 The subs are very similar and the same box can be used for the TNT 1044s but the SA10s have greater Xmax and therefore will be harder to bottom out and likely will handle more power. The TNTs should used with caution above rated power. Subsonic filter to about 30Hz. 0.1 cubes/sub of driver displacement was estimated for the ABs (same as the Sundowns) since the don't list that info.
SoImVan Posted April 9, 2013 Author Report Posted April 9, 2013 Thanks Joe. Should be doing some building this weekend. I'll post some pictures.
