Need a box design

im trying to help out a buddy with a box design for two sa12's on a brz2100.

max dims are

37-1/2"W

18"D

15"H

he wants to keep the width and the height to the max so the box fills it. depth can be adjusted to whatever works. subs will be facing trunk. thanks

Here is a suggestion:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 34 Hz
Vb = 4 ft^3

External Height = 15 in
External Width = 37.5 in
External Depth = 20.25 in

Port Width = 4 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.
* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2x Front = 16 3/4 x 13 1/2
Back = 37 1/2 x 13 1/2

Left & Right Sides: 18 3/4 x 13 1/2

Top & Bottom = 37 1/2 x 20 1/4

Shared Port Internal Assembly Parts:

2 x Front to Back = 16 3/4 x 13 1/2
2 x Extension = 2 1/2 x 13 1/2

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

Important notes:

- The 45s if you want to do them are 2 1/2" wide except the one/ones inside the port, if you want that let me know.

- All trunk boxes built outside the car need to fit in their way in not just have the right dimensions.

- The port needs 4" of free airspace in front of it for proper operation.

- Setting your amp subsonic filter to 28Hz is suggested.

Thanks joe. He should have enough space for the port but ill let him know just to be sure. Chances are the 45s in the port will be made. What's the measurements on them please?

The 45s inside the port should be done as follows:

The port width at the turn should be exactly 1/2" of the port width at the center duct.

I will also comment that the box will be better for front firing than rear firing because there will be sub par airflow firing back as it takes most of the width and most of the height of the trunk.

front firing can be done but the trunk is from a hyundai sanata. its only taking up the space to fit between the wheel wells and roof to fit snug.

as you can see there is still lots of space back there. or am i not getting it? does there have to be space between the box sides and/or roof?

im rusty on trunk builds

It will work anyways, if you can take away the stock speakers off the rear deck, that would be something to try.
