Is it ok to....?

Mount your amplifier directly onto your sub box? I just bought a hifonics brz2100 to run 3 sundown e8v3D2 subs. Planning to push about 1200-1500 watts to them which is a little higher than their rating, but everyone says as long as you do it right there shouldn't be problems, and Hell.... at $90 each if I tear em up I will just buy the SA-8 and move on with my life lol.

But this is about the amp itself. I have heard that vibration will/can damage the amp if it is mounted to the enclosure. With the setup I am looking at, does anyone have any thoughts about that? Opinions are welcomed and I understand that no one is giving me paid/professional advice, so if you are wrong you are wrong lol.. no hard feelings. The decision of course is mine, I just want to know what others think.

Also if it can cause damage are there any precautions I can take, or anything I can do with my build to mitigate/prevent damage? Thanks much!

you should be fine.. if no other place i wouldnt worry.

its when you get into the 140 db+ range that i would keep them off the box.

but yes strong vibrations can damage the amps.

It is true that vibration can damage an amp, or any device for that matter. However i doubt your set-up would cause any major issues, a lot of people use rubber washers between the box and amp to attempt to absorb some the of vibrations.

When you get to levels that you have to worry about the vibrations there's a good chance it will be subjected to it no matter where it is mounted so I wouldn't worry about it.

Over time, vibrations can weaken solder joints.

As mentioned above rubber washers are a good idea.

If you need to mount to the enclosure another thing to keep on mind is the strength of the enclosure itself.

If the walls are weak and vibrate easier then that will transfer more to the amp.

-use vibration isolation (rubber mounts)

-mount the amp in an area isolated from the bass if possible (sealed off trunk)

-build your enclosure as strong as possible
