If it was me I wouldn't use the cap though. Just bypass it and see if you still blow fuses.

Agreed ^ try the same procedure without the cap.

Large capacitance's have massive in-rush currents as the caps charge.

Either the external cap or the amp's internal power supply capacitance or both could be contributing to a huge inrush current which blows your fuses.

Pulling the fuses and adding them later may not fix the issue because you're still abruptly connecting the circuit, just at a different point.

If that is indeed the issue, then the best way to avoid it is to get a power resistor and use that inline with your power wire to reduce the inrush current.

You only need to use the resistor for a few seconds before the capacitance will be charged up enough that you won't get the inrush anymore.

Then just pull the resistor out and connect as normal fairly quickly before the caps have time to dissipate.
