Moreno93 Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 Your pulling more out of that alternator then it can put out. Make sure to get the same type of battery's and know that the alternator can be going out but still pass any test. My alternator was passing in and out of my truck. Got a new one and problem went away. Make sure your wires are all tight too. EDIT: i also had my idle checked, and fuel air ratio tweaked. My voltage was dropping to about 9V and coming back up when i pressed on the gas.. at stop lights it would almost die out on me.

Well I can see how mine could pass given the fact that it does charge when rpm rise while driving but at idle if I have any kind of load it drops down to 12.2 and stays there! With or without music

With or without music This is just the start, trust me. I ended up having to get a NEW battery & a NEW alternator. The longer you have everything hooked up the the faster it's going to completely shit out. Also check your gain make sure it isn't to high. The more you have hooked up to it the more pull it's going to put on the alternator. Regardless of whether or not your using it.
Pauly1987 Posted March 8, 2013 Author Report Posted March 8, 2013 Note that if I'm at a red light after freeway I'm at 14.2 then when I tested it with music it dropped 12.2 then Immediately turned off stereo and volts stayed at 12.2 idle until rpm were 2000rpm plus then I saw 14.2

I hope this alty can hold on at least for a week more Can I contact anyone regarding this problem and could hook me up with a alty that would work with my car at a good price I want at least a 250amp alty I'm guessing

Leave only Stock wiring connected. You can leave it there just disconnect and cover everything. I got a 145A alternator from autozone for $170 ish with LIFETIME warranty. I Plan on putting in a cheap 250A alternator i found online on eBay. That way if it ever craps out on me i just put my other one in. My truck is a daily driver so i cant have it messin up and not letting me make my $$$

The bigger names your going to pay $$$ for but there going to perform perfectly and last a while longer. While you can get a no name alternator, it'll be cheap but remember that it probably wont last long. I have a friend who bought the alternator i have currently, and he is also going to be buying the 250A alternator that i am before me. So he's always my tester.
