garretttt4 Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 What kinda electrical do I need to run a aq 2200d at 1 ohm? I have two runs of diyma oversized 0 gauge cca right now and the big 3 with stock alt. I think its like 95 amps? Can I make do with my stock alt for a few weeks and just do another batt like a c&d 100ah in back and stock duralast up front?
RooTxBeeR Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Install aftermarket volt meter display so you can see realtime what your voltage is. Yeah I have a voltmeter just havnt put it in yet. Trading a Memphis mojo 4k for the aq and a new mojo m5 15. With that sub take that aq? Should I keep the amp turned down?
garretttt4 Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 Also is the trade worth it? The mojo 4k for a aq 2200 and mojo m5 15d2?
Chris Hammer Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Yep you should be fine... Really. Expalin? AQ2200..rated 2200 at 1ohm right..So 100% efficiency(never will happen)...thats a 183 amp draw...actually more. If its 80% efficient then a 230amp draw. On a stock 95 amp alt with other loads like headlights A/C etc. NO you do not have enough electrical...say hello to low 11's and 10's with that setup. I would look into some AGM batteries..one up front one in the rear and a mildly upgraded alt. Like 220amp that is available for my truck. I am planning on running 2.5k-3k in the future and have been looking into the elctrical for it alot. Also I don't know much about the mojos but rated at 1750..if you don't clip them I think they could probably take it. Chris Hammer Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 IDK if the trades really worth it. If you have 4000w rms righ tnow you are tradign for 2200wrms...its a downgrade but you are getting a sub.. But there is no way in hell you have enough electrical for 4k...you could scratch by on 2k. Yeah ill have to watch my voltage and I won't be going full tilt for more than maybe 10-15 mins at a time. I usually just drive around with it about 1/3 way up. I don't wanna get a new alt cuz this is just a temporary car and gunna get rid of it this summer sometime. The only reason I really wanted to trade was cuz the mojo will be power hungry. I was thinking about doing 2 of the aq's and maybe 2 American bass HD or VFL 12s. If I did the vfls I'd do 4 2200s eventually.
