Noel989
40-50% gain so he's not clipping Wrong You set the gain by matching or not exceeding the RCA preout voltage Quote Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/
SnowDrifter
40-50% gain so he's not clipping What does how far you turn the gain up have to do with anything? If I turned my gain to that I'd be playing square-waves all day. Imagine this is the gain knob on my amp: I'm about at the first notch. No one's dogging you lol. Just preventing the spread of misinformation It's because I have 4v pre-outs and a 7v line driver. If I set mine any higher, I'd clip. But some people have such low output voltage on their deck that the gain can be turned all the way up without clipping. Point being: gain setting is irrelevant as it will be different for everyone. So saying to set the gain to 40% doesn't carry any significance and is purely a guess.
