Box for HDC3 12's for LOWS

Recommended Posts

Im buying two SQ HDC3 12's D4. Im trying to figure out what box i should build for it. It will be run off a Hifonics BRX 2000.1D. My dimensions are W-32 H-13.5 D-28. Going in an 02' Monte Carlo. I want the box to "come to life" below 34Hz and play down to 26 hz with ease. I like a good range, but wil give up most of the high end for my lows.

Thanks

My friend has his pair of HDC3 12's in 5.5 cubes before displacement, 16sqin of port tuned to 30hz, the lower a song gets the more aggressive it is inside his car, doesn't pick up much above 44hz though, but I bet that has to do with the fact that he's got so much port. If you really care about the lows then i'd say tune around 30-32 with 12-14sqin of port so you can keep some bandwidth in it.

I was going to shoot for 11 or even 10 sq in of port. But this is helpful thanks :)

Why don't you get subs that are just made for the lows.

Well My HDC3 12 is in about 3.75 cubes @ 37hz mine drops down to about 23hz w/o problems around 20-21hz it'll play the frequency but i couldnt really hear it, 25hz is the sweet spot for my 12, really shakes my car, amp is an AQ 1200d @ 1 ohm by the way

also its a slot port enclosure, upfiring, side port firing to the passenger side so that its louder to my ear, and it peaks around 43hz so no real loss of high frequencies
