The Subs can take a beating, but I believe the down fall is the soft parts, the surround an cone coming apart from power an excursion. I'm sure AMI will chime in. My build 98 s10 2.2 3 american bass HD 15s with psi soft parts. (on there way here) atomic at-3000.1 (soon) 146.2 outlaw @39hz., bad alt an bad batt when termed (old 2 12" build) alpine 6.5s in doors infinty 4x6s in dash. clarion cz201 HU. mechman 240a H/O alt stuff i still need. SHCA 2/0 wire SHCA 1/0 to 2/0 adapters Atomic AT-3000.1 Lots of sound deadner new mids an highs, still debating on what to do. A few Deka g31 batts. And u have the aluminum coil which is geared more towards spl ( what website said when i was lookin at aq subs) so it can take more power id think. But with my amp ill be about 2-3x rms power and I have never worked with aq/qubed before, Also I did not know they had that program that's something to look into forsure Good lord sweet baby Jesus. zydrix Posted April 10, 2013 Report Share Posted April 10, 2013 SQ (AQ) rates them at 1,000. I believe your sub has a 3" 8 layer aluminum voice coil. The 1,000rms rating is a joke. That subs can easily take 2k. The only downfall it seems to b with those subs like I stated before is the soft parts fail before the coil will.
