need box help with a single 15'' DMX stg2 subwoofer. Im very confused on all the abbriviated crap in the "specs" I would like to box to be 3 cubic feet. in a ported box. it says the port needs to be (12''x3.5'')x10 inches i am unsure of what frequency this needs to be at.

"specs"

box volume : 3 cubic feet

fill :none

Fb: 42hz

port size : never mind on the port size because the info is all messed up on the massive site,

Fp:37.46hz

watts @ music:1500 watts

Xmax @ music: 27MM

SPL @ Music: 131.5 DB

40W X 20H X 30 inches deep. I can set the box back closer to the opening of the trunk its around 46 inches wide if not a little more if i need more room. any help would be great. I tried to use the RE calculator and im having a very hard time with it. not to mention getting very frustrated with it. this is my first box, and my first time using the calculators. so Im not sure what works, and what doesnt. im wanting a box that is 3 cubic feet at 33-35hz

Here is a suggestion:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 34 Hz
Vb = 3 ft^3

External Height = 16.5 in
External Width = 35.5 in
External Depth = 17 in

Port Width = 3 1/2 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.
* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 35 1/2 x 16 1/2

Left & Right Sides = 14 3/4 x 15

Top & Bottom = 35 1/2 x 14 3/4

L Port Internal Assembly Parts:

Front to Back = 11 1/4 x 15
Extension = 16 x 15

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

Important notes:

- The 45s if you want to do them are 2 1/2" wide except the one/ones inside the port, if you want that let me know.

- All boxes built outside the car need to fit in their way in not just have the right dimensions.

- This box should be operated around subwoofer(s) rated power. If that´s not the case, let me know.

- The port needs 3 1/2" of free airspace in front of it for proper operation.

- Setting your amp subsonic filter to 28Hz is suggested.

holy shiz thankyou for that design. looks freakin awesome. the port length and width is confusing a bit. box looks great and should fit in my trunk. amp is only 1000 watts rms 1 ohm. im going to be using right now with a audio control epicenter. but i will be trying to buy a DD M3 amp soon as the funds are there. and run it at 1 ohm. so port needs to be 3.5W x 15L x 11 1/4 W?

You're welcome, the port is made up of two walls, the front to back wall which is 14 1/4" and the extension wall which is 16" long, take a look:

Hope it answers the question, if not or have other questions let me know.

I changed the pic above on the sub placement, the 45 inside the port should be done in a way that the internal width of the port stays the same at the turn, take a look:

No, what the pic says is that at the turn the port width stays the same as in the rest of the port so you cut the 45 accordingly, since I don't know if you are going to slant the corner as shown then I also don't know the final size of the 45, you just have to measure and then determine it's size.

You don't want the sub and the port interact with each other so you distance them.
