UDI
Hello, I'm about to order a sundown z v3 sub and I've got a 4.5 cubic feet box (after the sub displacement and ports, 4.5 only for the sub) I want the sub to be as louder as posslble, for daily use and I cant decide which sub to take. on sundown website it says 4 cf box for 18" ported. I want to play low and not 50hz+, more like 30-40 hz my box is total of 5.5 cubic feet, two round ports (pipes) 6" x 25.6" (by my calculations the box is tuned to 33 hz) I dont know which sub will give me better results. should I take the 18" ? should I take the 15" and make the ports longer? should i take the 15" and leave the box as it is? my amp is 1.6k and I've got XS Power D2400 battery, if it matters. any ideas or directions? Thanks!

UDI
any idea about the box / ports? if i take the 15", make the port longer for lower tuning, or leave it as it is?
UDI
another option is Zv4 15 (will be on 1.6k rms)

mrd6
what is your reasoning for making the ports longer in getting the 15 over the 18? I would probably do the 15 and leave it the same for now. Then change if necessary. Quote My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...-sundown-power/ Team NorthWestSPL
UDI
I really wanted 18", but there is not enough space in my trunk for 6 c.f box I thought maybe 4.5 would be enough. I'll probably go for the 15" how much would a flared port will affect? the ports I've got are normal, no flared end
Ben Fultz
Flared ports cut down the turbulence at the opening, and drastically reduces the potential for port noise.
PowerHouse407
4.5 is quite big for a z v.3 15 but eater way you go v.3 v.4 there going to want more power than that. UDI
I want to take the Z v3 18" !!! I'm thinking about building a new enclosure with MDF 0.75" I can have max of 6.5 cubic feet (before taking off sub displacement and ports) and If i go on 1" MDF, I can have 6.2 cubic feet (before sub and ports) sub displacement = 0.16 ports are - 0.81 both are around 1 c.f so it means with MDF 0.75" its 5.5 c.f for sub and with MDF 1" its 5.2 c.f that would be enough? or still not ? I have around 1 week to decide.
