What's a good 18 inch sub

sa series, vvx series, oa series. all 2.5" coils. max is like 1000rms before you start to worry about issues or stuff like that.

hdc3 weighs like twice as much as any of those woofers and handles twice the power. only thing audioque/soundqubed has that can compare to those 3 woofers, is their sdc2.5 line.

different leagues man.

if it were me and i wanted to spend my whole 3 grand budget, all woofers with 2.5" coils would go out the window.

two 18's. a 3500 will destroy a single hdc 18.

but mind you with that amp you will need a huge alt (at least like 250 amps), tons of 0 gauge, and two (maybe three, im not too great on electrical) extra group 31 agm batteries (not optima).

I got rid of two 15 L7 s for two 18s obsidians and i am very impressed great subs for the price and dont let the 2.5 coil scare u off they can handle plenty on power

sundown audio I'm running their sd-2 10's the shallow subs they slam for 10's look into them
