subsonicluv
Got a little bit of work done last weekend. Still haven't ordered any deadening yet but got some foam done. This is after the tailgate was done and most of the passenger side. Still wasn't enough. The cans with the green caps were form Wall Mart and i didn't know what to expect from them. I will say that i was impressed with how much I got out of each can. I think they were less than 4 buck a can. OK I know it's been said before by other members but I will have to agree, foam is EVIL! This stuff is nasty! I should have taken out the carpet before I did any of this. Oh well. Another lesson learned. Also, I found out that if you're not patient with it and don't let it expand before you add more, you'll just seal it back off again inside the cavities and it will remain in a liquid state under pressure. Found this out when I drilled a hole to see if I missed any hollow areas and it shot out at me in liquid form then just kind of oozed out after that. (insert joke here) OK, time for some woofer comparison pics. Got in on the pre-order for the 18V.2's. They shipped them separately so I was a little freaked out when only one of these showed up at my door. Next to one of the Vegas. GREAT SCOTT! And then....the other one showed up. Relief. 04 Blazer Xtreme HU: Kenwood KDC-MP235 Front Stage: Lanzar MX6C Components Rear Stage: Lanzar MX693 6X9's Sub Stage: (2) Obsidian 18 D2 V2 Mids / Highs Amp: Boston Acoustics GTA 704 Sub Amp: Boston Acoustics GTA 1000m Optima Yellow Top (up front) Singer 275A Alternator Future Plans: One More GTA 1000m (maybe) More batteries More runs of 1/0 Pioneer DEH-X7500S (on order)
subsonicluv
This showed up at my door on Friday. This thing is a beast. Can't wait to get it installed, just need to get the shorter belt and finish the Big 3. It's half ass done right now but I really need to replace it all with OFC 1/0 and fuse it. 04 Blazer Xtreme HU: Kenwood KDC-MP235 Front Stage: Lanzar MX6C Components Rear Stage: Lanzar MX693 6X9's Sub Stage: (2) Obsidian 18 D2 V2 Mids / Highs Amp: Boston Acoustics GTA 704 Sub Amp: Boston Acoustics GTA 1000m Optima Yellow Top (up front) Singer 275A Alternator Future Plans: One More GTA 1000m (maybe) More batteries More runs of 1/0 Pioneer DEH-X7500S (on order)
subsonicluv
A couple of updates, nothing big. Finished the foam finally and got my AT deadener in last week. 40sf seemed like a lot when I 1st got it until I installed it. I'll need to get more for the doors and maybe the tailgate although that's filled with foam lol. LOL my wife answered the door when it showed up and carried it to the kitchen. She was like "WTF did you order?" haha shit was heavy. /\ these put together=this I did 3 layers on the roof. 1st layer was 100% coverage, 2nd-50%, 3rd-25%. It'll probly still flex, but maybe quietly?lol idk. So that's all I have for right now. Might be this way for a while. I'll try to at least get the alt installed since I just need the shorter belt for it. And I might redo the Big 3 with the left over CCA 1/0 from the last build. I wanted to use OFC but I'll have to wait a while to buy some. I'm about to get slammed at work because summer is our busiest time of the year so I won't have that much time. LOTS of OT though! Also in the middle of refinancing the house so I can't really make any purchases until that's over with. It's been a PITA. Thanks for looking and THANKS for the positive comments. I was expecting the worst with my choice of equipment at the beginning of this thread.lol 04 Blazer Xtreme HU: Kenwood KDC-MP235 Front Stage: Lanzar MX6C Components Rear Stage: Lanzar MX693 6X9's Sub Stage: (2) Obsidian 18 D2 V2 Mids / Highs Amp: Boston Acoustics GTA 704 Sub Amp: Boston Acoustics GTA 1000m Optima Yellow Top (up front) Singer 275A Alternator Future Plans: One More GTA 1000m (maybe) More batteries More runs of 1/0 Pioneer DEH-X7500S (on order)

Can't wait to hear these 18s! Just undecided on how to approach port orientation and how to apply some power to these things. subsonicluv
What up fellas! Well, I finally got the alternator installed. Still need to re-do the Big 3. It's half ass there I guess. I did it with what I had to work with a while back. I used 1/0 OFC from battery neg to the frame. 4 AWG CCA from the alternator to battery positive and that's it. So it's more like the big 1-1/2 lol! I went ahead and replaced the belt tensioner and I got a new serpentine belt that was a 1/2" shorter. As it turned out it was too short and the original belt was barely long enough. Hopefully this weekend I can exchange the shorter belt for one that's a little longer than stock. It seems like the alt sits up a little higher on the bracket than the stock one so even with the smaller pulley the belt needs to be a little longer. I would also like to say thanks to Mike Singer for his help when I ordered the alternator. He's a great guy to work with and definitely lived up to his reputation! Also, ignore how I have the meter connected to the battery in the pic. I later disconnected the negatives for the battery and moved the black lead on the meter to frame ground. It read around 13.8 volts at that point. I just wanted to see if it was charging. That was the small update, now here"s the big one: I'M GOING TO BE A DAD!!!!!!!! I'm happy as shit!! Nervous as shit!! Excited as shit!! We found out Tuesday when I was on my way home from work. For a couple of seconds my legs went numb as I was driving. We've been married for 3 and a half years and nothing... until NOW!!! So..... Looks like my back seat is going back in. And I have no idea where this build is going now. I'm open for suggestions. Obviously 2 18's won't fit behind the back seat especially if I need that room for a....stroller...among other things. This is my only running vehicle and my wife doesn't drive at all (she's scared as hell to drive). She's being totally awesome about it though. I told her that I asked one of my friends if he was interested in buying an 18 from me and she said: HELL NO YOU'RE NOT SELLING THOSE. HaHa! So for now I'm going to keep working my ass off, pile up as much money as possible, and try to keep my shit straight. I also close on the refinance this Friday. WooHoo!! Cheers Everyone! 04 Blazer Xtreme HU: Kenwood KDC-MP235 Front Stage: Lanzar MX6C Components Rear Stage: Lanzar MX693 6X9's Sub Stage: (2) Obsidian 18 D2 V2 Mids / Highs Amp: Boston Acoustics GTA 704 Sub Amp: Boston Acoustics GTA 1000m Optima Yellow Top (up front) Singer 275A Alternator Future Plans: One More GTA 1000m (maybe) More batteries More runs of 1/0 Pioneer DEH-X7500S (on order)
stroupe79
Congrats on the baby!.... you will love the Obsidian 18v2s...I love mine...you can get away with 9cubes after displacements for subs/port so you'll probably have to Cpillar wall it to get them both in there!....but by the looks of it you already know how to get every inch outta that rear compartment, just need to build it to the roof...tuned in for sure! http://www.stevemead...cherokee-build/ 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alpine CDE-hd148bt Alpine PKG-RSE2 PRV Audio (4) 6MB200 front/rear doors PRV Audio (4) TW350Ti dash/rear doors Kicker KX350.4 Obsidian Audio (1) 18 D4 v2 revamp (2) Stereo Integrity HT 18d2DC Audio 1.2k5.25ft^3 tuned @34hz revamp Infinite Baffle Cpillar AudioTechnix 60mil deadenerKnuKonceptz & SkyHigh wire (complete setup)
