JasonJones Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 Ok, so I have an 08 Suburban with quad Singer Alts utilizing the DC quad bracket. Now my question is: there are no grounding posts on any of the Alts. So A) do I send them back to Mike to get ground posts put on, do I have my friend just solder a post onto the bracket, or C) do I just get a larger bolt for the alt sticking the furthest from the engine so I can have extra thread on the backside of the bracket to sandwich the runs of 1/0 between? Any input is appreciated and pros/cons to each scenario. Thanks!

soffhands Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 the engine block is grounded from frame to battery or engine block to battery your bracket is bolted to the block no need for grounding post on your alternators i just beefed up my grounds i put two 0/2 welding cable from frame to engine and engine to battery thats what i did
Jessica Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 well, personally i would just use the mounting bolt for the alt for a grounding spot. but i guess you could drill the bracket itself and bolt to it. In fact it had these rusted metal spacers in there that were a PITA to get out but I replaced them with stainless washers but I'm sure there's still gap in that to a certain extent. I planned of course to upgrade the block to frame grounds already and run dedicated from front batteries to frame as well but didn't know if beefing up the alt ground point would be a significant difference.
