Today i tried connecting both frame rails together with 0g ofc wire to see if that helped (someone had mentioned that it might help so i thought it was worth a try)...didn't budge :/

Measure your voltage at the back and at the alt(negative probe to alt case, positive probe to alt post). Also see if you can clamp to see how much power the alt is putting out.

Also: any pics of the back-side of your alt?

IIRC those alts come externally regulated. Did Tenney send you an internally regulated one or something?

So i decided to call a local Dodge/Jeep dealership that deals with a lot of the older model Jeeps in my area...I found out some great info. They said that any Jeeps 1991 and up are not only Voltage regulated (which i knew) but also Amperage regulated in the main ECU computer of the jeep...They said they have seen it many times...they also said there is a bypass harness (something similar to this http://store.alternatorparts.com/hd-external-voltage-regulator-conversion-kit.aspx) that will allow you to see more than the regulated 120 amps out of ANY alt (They also said that if a HO alt was installed before a bypass harness was connected, then it probably blew the amperage regulator in the ECU causing even more problems). So all in all, looks like maybe replace the computer and then try to find the bypass harness that i need

So then from the sound of it the ECU can't deliver enough field current then.

Since the alt is already externally regulated, you could just get one of the blue box transpo regulators vs. trying to deal with the stock stuff

I had one of those with the EA alt because it was externally regulated...but come to find out Nate had just thrown factory parts into the alt and charged me 500 bucks for it (i had it taken apart at a local shop lol). But it was a big leap in a solution i think. One of my friends is gonna try that bypass kit on that website on his jeep
