Homemade Super-Neo Woofer: THE CHEVELLE RESTORATION IS DONE, dampener recommendations??

So here it is again. Make a cage/ack. Bolt base and magnets to the bottom. Then attach the top page to a bracket that's connected to the top plate with bolts that are in the holes where the basket will go. Have everything lined up perfectly. Shims optional. But would actually act like a shim rather than a wedge and could be nice and reasonably loose, so not jammed. Anyway, then weld that bracket to a threaded rod. I originally thought fine threads so that it would bring the two parts into contact slower, but then I thought about the magnetic power stripping the fine thread. So then I thought big teeth but then I thought deep thread but then i thougbht how flat the planes of the thread would be and with the magnet force being so strong to make the pieces hard/inpossible to turn, so then I thought a large coarse thread hardened steel like the thread of a crank puller so even stronger threads/sfeel, and then slowly ower the bracket by threading it down. From a precicely mounted nut that would be welded to the center top of the cage/rack.

Kind of like a hydraulic press looks with a clamp screw looking thing instead lol.

I can draw a picture if you want to if you even care at all lol. For all I know everything could be together already lol

Lots of machining required. Cage must be made of aluminum if you ever wish to get it separated from the motor when you're done.

that bandsaw was the only way to get even 1/4" pieces from the aluminum round rod, I should get one....

Figure out a way to secure the bottom plate from jumping and you'll simply turn the all thread to lower the top plate into place. With 4 all threads everything will be lined up and easy peasy.

lol I notice one thing only that poses an issue, I missed it my first few idea-rounds too. How am I going to get that bottom wood off after the top plate is down?

From the drawing I assume it will hold down the bottom by having holes in wood to slide over the magnets???? If not then I guess its not a problem

alright, I treated the top plate for Rust today, pretty stinky stuff, but it works, I think.

cleaned it off, it says use a moist rag, which I thought was odd since your trying to remove rust but ok.

Can anyone tell me if the discoloration is a problem? When I washed it off, I left it down for about 30 seconds to get some paper towels, I come back and the plate was turning orange all over??!?!? I wiped it down again but there is still discoloration all over it? Is that because it is also an etching prep bath???

it's a little hard to see in the pics but if anyone knows that would be cool.

Bolt it down like the top if you have holes on the bottom plate, or maybe 2 pieces that come together and you screw those together with some additional pieces. I'm just trying to help ya out. LOL

lol no no no no, I'm not mad at all bro hahahah. And by holes, I meant the wood on the bottom, it would have holes cut out of it so that it could go over the magnet poles right? But if it did, then it would not be able to come off once the top plate was on.
