bassboombottom Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 I have been pondering with the idea of selling my alpines the box and hopefully the damned capacitor, in exchange for a custom box with either 4 12" Kicker comps or comp vrs or 6 10" versions of the said brands.. When the installer put in the amp, he mounted it on the back of the back seat, and if i fold it down, it might tear the wires out, and plus there is no room for a box to sit on the back of the seat even if i could fold it down. and when i get the cap out, how can i safely discharge it without losing a hand? and which set up would sound better to you guys? Sorry if i posted this in the wrong section 8v fury said:
dmanson Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 i'd do the 6 10s for the hell of it but you'd get a uneven load such as 1.34, 2.66 ....... depending on which setup you go with. as for the capacitor get a resistor and place it between the + and - on the cap and you should be good to go. 2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s 1-DC 5K amp (1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR) 3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative. (2)-RFT165s components, ...... 4 separate 1 inch tweetersRF T600-2(fronts) Punch 450.4(rear) Audiocontrol 3.1. DC power 260amp alternator w/MLA Module
XtremeSPL-SCAMMER Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 are you going to have the air space to do this?? you can get as many subs you want... but, the eclosure need to be able to have the air space for all the subs... if you have it, and you measured what you can use for a box, and then get it into the vehicle.. go ahead need to have someone getacuft calculater, and be sure to subtract 3/4" around if you plan on useing 3/4" mdf.. or whatever.. IM A LOW LIFE SCAMMER SO I WAS BANT....TEH HAMMA is NOT my friend
roscoe1129 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 you can discharge the cap by removing your fuse for your amps under the hood and then turn your stereo on and the sub amp will drain the cap. roscoe1129 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 for maximum bass I would do one chamber. bassboombottom Posted February 19, 2008 Author Report Posted February 19, 2008 But on the off chance that one or more subs gets messed up intentionally, or by manufactures defect, wouldnt that escentally add a given amount of volume, and strain each of the remaining woofers, or does that not pertain to ported enclosures? 8v fury said:
