95neon_thumper82 Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 hi I'm new here. I have a few questions regarding speaker selection. I'm looking for a set of 6-3/4s for the front. I'm thinking I'd like components here. seeing as I have the stock ones now so I already have a place for the tweeter and the doors will hold my mids. I'm sort of liking the polk audio DXi6500s a lil pricey for what I want but I think well worth it. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_107DXI6500/Polk-Audio-DXi6500.html?tp=106 for these speakers. for the rear I'm looking for 6x9s I'd prefer components here too but I'm liking the dxi 690's by polk. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_107DXI690/Polk-Audio-DXi690.html?tp=91 for now I plan on pushing them with the dual xpe4700 that I currently have powering my two tens. in 2ch mode. I understand this lil amp is laughable. but its a start. I bought my subs and box that are currently installed for 10 bucks. my whole system has cost me 100 bucks lol. plus wiring and install kit. I'm wondering what you guys think of these speakers or if you have better options for my money. this next weekend I plan on taking care of the big three. I currently am in the market for a new battery also. I'm looking at an agm since I tend to run parkin lot pimpin if you will. my battery is coming this weekend with new terminals and all. once I get my speakers I plan on pulling my tens in favor of the two mtx twelves I have right now setting on a shelf. With a new ported box and a 1200 watt rockford or mtx amp to push em. so don't lose hope on me yet. I plan on upgrading everything eventually but I want a good place to start and that's what I'm doing. I'm not looking for the biggest and the best. but basically a better experience on my 40 mile trek to work. and 40 miles on the return. so what do you think of my selections for mids and highs. Can ny money buy better? Are their other things I should consider first. as far as my lil plan goes here? I'm looking at other vehicle upgrades along the way too chasis and motor wise so it may be a long term type of plan. thanks in advance. _cHRIS <img src=http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/IMG_9611192581855_zps9b9b76be.jpg border=0 alt= height="75" width="800"> Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! black05alti Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 those polk speakers are good "bang for your buck" speakers.. they would definitely like an amp that puts out 100x4 @ 4ohms..
Babyjuice Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 I would consider taking a look at some of the smd partners on here, they all have great products and you won't be disappointed with anything you get. Also crutch field is a bit pricey, take a look at sonic electronics, they have good pricing on almost anything. BABYJUICE
black05alti Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 the polk db series is pretty much the same thing as the dxi series.. and sonic eletronics has that for $120, but crutchfield gives you the mounting rings with the purchase..
95neon_thumper82 Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 "those polk speakers are good "bang for your buck" speakers.. they would definitely like an amp that puts out 100x4 @ 4ohms.." alright so I'd be looking for an upgrade amp pre purchase then or shortly after. that would be fair. to be honest kinda resent buying this dual lol. polk doesn't manufacture amps do they? If not I'll go with either rockford. I've heard nothing but good about them. may go alpine too but that would be second choice. "I would consider taking a look at some of the smd partners on here, they all have great products and you won't be disappointed with anything you get. Also crutch field is a bit pricey, take a look at sonic electronics, they have good pricing on almost anything." will do. I've never bought anything from CF but they seem to have a good bit of inventory so I use them for reference. Then look locally to actually buy, but I will look at the partners and see what I can find I've heard Sonic a few times so they'd be a must to at least consider. thanks. "the polk db series is pretty much the same thing as the dxi series.. and sonic eletronics has that for $120, but crutchfield gives you the mounting rings with the purchase.." sweet. now that sounds like a better deal to me. If the pricing is right I may even one up the polks. see what happens. I just know my uncle had polks and they sounded pretty clean. So why not? thanks for the help guys. no for some purchase research. <img src=http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/IMG_9611192581855_zps9b9b76be.jpg border=0 alt= height="75" width="800"> Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! 95neon_thumper82 Posted May 28, 2013 Author Report Posted May 28, 2013 lol yeah it is a lil weird.... I'm a lil weird but its ok well you see I don't plan to keep this car very long... its a beater. so once I get everything figured out I plan to sell it and everything in it and put that towards my next vehicles system. might be able to buy some nice cables that way. I'm sure some highschooler will take it for a decent lil money if it sounds nice and runs good. I know I would have! <img src=http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/IMG_9611192581855_zps9b9b76be.jpg border=0 alt= height="75" width="800"> Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option!
