Entered my first Meca comp and need pointers

I entered my first comp last night and i did pretty mgood but need some help. I dont have a ton of money in my system but wanna get better . I took 2nd place in street 3 with 144.4 @ 55hz. I was told to bring hz down and db will go up. Whats the best way to do this?

2000 Blazer

2 Sundown SA-12 wired @ 1ohm Ported in center guessing tuned @32hz

SAZ 2500 amp

and 2 small kinetik batteries

0 gauge wiring

big 3 and 160 amp alternator

pioneer dehp8400 deck

everything else stock

Forgot to say this was my this was my first comp ever not just first meca comp.

that depends,was he talking about box tuning, which I doubt seeing as how 32hz is low, or the tone to played, which seems more likely. do you know where you are peaking at in your car? im tuned to 45hz but my car peaks at 50hz, so the loudest metered frequency in my car is 50 hz, 32 is low, usually raising your tuning increases you score on the meter, but doesn't always sound louder. for tips, don't play your subs, let them coils stay nice and cool, if you can keep the ac on and car sealed up right until your run, personally I gained anywhere from .2-.5 db doing that in between runs. and throw your car on a charger before the show and trickle charge those batteries up, and again don't play them, even keep your hu off if possible until your run. again ive noticed decent gains just doing that.

I was doing demos and tuning right before i went up and my voltage was down. next time i will not turn it on till i am ready to go through. I dont know what i am peaking at in my car. just what he wrote on my score sheet. i did notice my son had turned my lpf on the amp up to almost halfway and i always have it down so im thinking maybe thats what hurt me a little too. Im new at having a loud system so not sure how to gain higher numbers without spending tons of cash

Meca likes lower frequencies.....if you can peak and burp like 37-41hz that would be a lot better

Did you do a sweep and find your peak? Or did he just tell you what to play

I just played a bass CD that someone gave me. we could play anything. I just went through once.

Get to next shower earlier and ask judge to use their cd play sweep and burp at lower notes. I doubt you be peakin that high with such low tuning.

^This. That will help you. Is it a 2 door blazer? I drive one. That's a good number to start with though. If it's a 2 door blazer, try opening both triangle windows for a few tenths. and flip drivers seat over front steering wheel. No bracing on back hatch. But the side back windows gain when braced.Also taking off the back hatch panel gains for me. Enclosure tips, if it's slot port, try using 3/4th pvc pipe, cut in half to "round" over the edges. Duct tape the gaskets around subs. Or just follow the "spl gains" thread on here, really, really great!

50hz is your resonant frequency in that vehicle. Atleast with our testing. Blazer will get loud. We have done a 150 with 2 15's and less then 2000watts. I'd recommend subs side port back. That was loudest for us.

its a 4 door. i have the back panel off. would it help if i laid my rear seats down? the box is slot port and the center edges are rounded.
