So since the original home made woofer was such a hit, I decided I want to try to make a real-functioning professional sounding speaker that can actually do a worth TL score.

The changes I'll be making are far from small:

-I have the main piece ordered, a pair of 3"(diameter) x 2"(thick) neodymium magnets which will be double the power of my original magnets, up @~1400lbs pull force from ~750lbs pull force.

-I plan on making 2 coils and seeing which works better, a 3" and 4" coil, both will be dual 4-ohm, but instead of copper wire I might try my hand at flat aluminum wire, since these coils will easily handle 2000W RMS and need the better heat dissipation

-I have ordered one real spider, which is what I am most sure about using because of the expense involved I can't afford to rely on something homemade that could fail during a bass run, ruining the coil and surround in the process.

Here is where I need some of your guys' expertise, concerning the heat in the motor area. As you know, coils can get hot AF, magnets as well. The problem with neodymium is that at just 80*C(176*F) it will lose some magnetic strength, which can be re-stored if it is

re-magnetized, but that would be a pain to have to do constantly. The curie temp is 380*C(590*F) and at that point it would lose all magnetic properties permanently but I'm doubtful it's even remotely possible to reach those temperatures on a subwoofer before the coils would unwind, so the first temp is my concern. Most speakers use the nomex or kapton paper to handle #>200*F, but that is for the actual voice coil, which I imagine would be hotter than the magnets due to the friction and work it is doing.

But how often do speaker magnets actually get that hot?

-As far as the basket, and the cone go, I'm not sure If I want to keep it original and go homemade, or order real parts? I have a feeling that a homemade basket to handle 2000W will be a trying task, as well as an even and efficient cone. Despite the convenient shape of the heat clamp lamp, it is very malleable and would bend and fold at the first sign of real power, even my V.1 woofer has bent the cone slightly off of just 350W, so 2000W would leave me with a nice aluminum roll haha.

I guess I'm more concerned with bad-ass factor here, would it be more bad-ass to build the basket and cone, or would it be equally as bad-ass if I ordered the real pieces and still put it all together civilian style and it bumped like a beast?

I'm open to ideas and thoughts from you guys. I should have the magnets and spider by thursday, I would like to get started on a basket before that if I should build one. Should I go with an 18" or 15" cone size this time?

So I wanted to see what these things could do while still fully wrapped, but I had no idea it would be this crazy......

I took my security box, filled it with as many weights and heavy bags as it could hold, weighed it at 62 lbs, then I put the magnets (still wrapped) on top of the box and it picked it up like childs play....... I can't get a pic though because I can't hold it long enough with one hand lol, with the magnets it weights like 75 lbs, and I can't grip the bubble wrap enough hahaha. But you get the idea.
