Newb Questions (Recommendations Needed)

I am hoping to get some recommendations for what type of sub and box I should get. I do understand that opinions are subjective and that the way we listen to music is personal so I am looking for recommendations biased on tech and specs.

The subs will be going into a 2004 GMC Envoy XL. Space is limited as I have 4 kids and this is my grocery getter, but I am willing to sacrifice some space if I need to. lol I listen to a variety of music but most likely when I have the car to my sell I will be playing Dubstep very loud, so this is my target music to make sound great when loud.

What I am looking for is clear bass that hit a wide range of frequencies and can hold them for a long time. I do not have the need to have people for blocks hear me coming, but if that happens so be it. lol. As I’m sure with most, I would like a bang for my buck set up but also don’t mind spending a bit more for a quality product and at the same time don’t need the name brand product. I am not looking for the "cool" factor :)

Thanks in advance for all of your thoughts and opinions.

Welcome to the forums. We need dimensions of what space you have available. A rough price range. And how many subs/amps you're looking to run.

Nothing for now...

Did you get that scar tissue when you got your vagina installed?

I'd grab Adam's ass and look him in the eyes for a demo of nates truck.

Thanks for the welcome and quick resopnse.

The rear cargo dimensions are roughly 45” wide, 18” inches deep, and about 11” high and as a probably imposible side note there is a cubby that is 17" wide, 10" deep, 5" high. I would ideally like to use as little of that space as possible. As far as price goes I am not sure. I do not need competition quality stuff but don’t mind purchasing quality products. And I am good with carpentry so I am able to build my own box. With the proper guidance of course, I have not built an enclosure in many years and it seems so much has changed. lol But just for the sake of having a number lets say $500.00 – $1000.00.

My recommendations are:

1-2 Sundown SA-12's (most people consider this the best sub under $200)

Sealed box (1 Cubic feet per sub)

NVX JAD1200.1 (unlike rockford amplifiers, the remote knob is a gain knob and not bass boost knob, also super high SNR and low THD, CEA Compliant)

Kenwood KDC-X397 deck (best bang/buck. 110dB SNR DAC, 3 pairs of 4 volt pre outs)

Probably an NVX 4 or 0 gauge wiring kit (extends NVX JAD1200.1's warranty to 2 years)

Big 3 upgrade

___________________________________________________________________________

All components chosen for highest value against competitors products

Estimated Total Cost (2-12's): $1020 w/o box

ETC(1-12): $825 w/o box

I was about to buy the same system for my girlfriend. I always buy based on value.

Originally i was going to buy a Rockford Fosgate Power T1500-1bdCP but the remote knob is a BASS BOOST knob and not a gain knob :barf2:

Not really sure what that means I have marketed nothing and have simply not been in the purchasing car audio equipment market in a long time and was looking for some opinions and what seemed like a reputable forum. It is a first post because I just signed up, everyone has a first post.
