Hey Steve, since you seem to know quite a bit about everything from systems to computers to washers and dryers, I was wondering if you had any recommendations on a Digital Video Camera.  I know it seems like a funny post, but if I know Steve, he will be able to offer a quality opinion!

to tell you the truth, although i do own 2 i dont know enough to point you in the right direction.  I know ive had very good luck as far as reliability with Sony.  I still have the little 8mm sony from 1992 here and even though i dont use it (have a new one duh) its still in perfect working condition.  Could use a new battery of course, those are always the first to go.  My new(er) one is a Sony DVD/101.  It uses the 3" dvd-r's instead of tapes.  I dont know what the REAL critics that know all this stuff say about it but i know I LIKE it.  Nothing like popping it right out of the cam and into ANY DVD player including the ones in my cars.  Take a vid at a show, play it on the way home....thats FUN especially if its chicks involved!

Anyway, in the MPEG/Internet world were livin today i use my Sony 5-megapixl digital cam and make most of my interweb movies with it.  For family vids and stuff that needs real quality, i probably wouldnt use that, but for everything small, cool that i share on the net definitly a little MPeg recording device is the best.

Purely my opinions, of course theres probably some experts that can help you a little better.  Good luck!

Sounds like what I have been hearing from most sites.  Have you done any editing with the 3" discs?  From what I read, the DVD based ones are fantastic for convenience, as far as popping it right in any dvd player like you said, but become a pain in the arse when you want to edit and play with the footage.  How does the video look on the DVDs?    Also are there any features that are an absolute must have?  Anyone else that has an opinion is also encouraged to respond.

Thank You for your opinion.

P.S.  Why is my paragraph one long sentence?
