OPINIONS WANTED: Sky High Lugs in Tinned Copper?

Hey guys,

So at Sky High we are always trying to keep things interesting and your opinion on products is the most important aspect of new product development for us. Here is the next thing we can do pretty easily:

Ive been looking into making some tinned copper lugs as well as the regular copper ones we currently carry.

I like the idea of tinned lugs do to the added corrosion resistance tinned copper lugs have over bare copper, solder is made of tin so maybe it would help with ease of soldering the ends plus some added adhesion (maybe i dont know but seems logical), and they would be silverish instead of copper colored which would be nice as well.

If this is something you would like to see let me know and ill make it happen.

Remember the tinned ones are a little bit more money (nothing drastic) so keep that in mind.

We will still be carrying copper ones as well if you guys would like to see the tinned ones, just adding the tinned ones to the product like.

Let us know your thoughts and we will go from there.

If you do tinned lugs, I'll buy them so I don't have to buy from somewhere else .

Can you get a sample, then do the solder and perform a pull test, if all is clear on the bond, then it would not be a bad idea to add as an option.

But I honestly think the demand for the pure copper lugs will remain higher.

i agree with the demand part of the copper lugs 100% ill order like 75% copper and 25% tinned just trying to see if there is interest and them.

if so ill go ahead with it and just have enough here to hold everyone over for a while.

I'd buy them. I like tinned lugs. And adhesive lined heatshrink because it's better at sealing out moisture. Same idea as the tinned lugs ;)

I think i would buy tinned lugs too. I need to put in an order for about 16 or so pretty soon. Will you be getting the regular 1/0 lugs that fit normal 1/0 too?

we will only be carrying our 1/0 lugs to fit our wire. other wires will fit into it just needs more crimp to hold i guess would be the correct way of saying it.

I would rather use tinned lugs and I do, just don't buy them from you yet. Since I live in the northern part of Pennsylvania copper lugs usually last bout 6 to 8 months before ya have to clean them.Unless ya hose them down with battery terminal protector or a die electric grease, which makes a mess when and if ya have to take it back apart. I still have a few copper lugs I haven't changed out yet on my power wires and I can tell when they start to get a little dirty cause my voltage drop isn't the same. Now if I never drove my truck in the winter or in the rain I probably wouldn't have any problems. Lol. Like snow said, I'm still waiting for the adhesive lined heat shrink. Lol. I think you would sell the shit out of those.

Completely tinned lugs take a bit more heat to heat them up to take solder and their holding strength is only as good as the tinning done to the lug itself. If the tinning process to the lug is done properly you'll have a better chance of ripping the wire in half or ripping the eyelet out of the lug before you break the solder joint.

I would buy them. Look nicer and will stay clean. My only issue is I wish the 1/0 was a little bigger for wire that's not wound up super tight. I've had a few brand that were hard to get in. The diyma I used for my grounds was the worst lol that wire is very loose.
