max785 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 Hi,I was thinking of buying new comp for my car. I'm not running sub's anymore. Will aftermarket speaker will do a big SQ difference over my stock speakers without using a amp only an pionner HU ? Which comp set you guys are recommending for sq replacement. Some people told me yes and other no ... 2001 civic dx 2 X sa12's " 1 X aq1200d Knukonceptz 4 gauge , rca
BobbyG2 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 You will absolutely see an improvement as long as the component set is of higher quality than your stock speakers. What's your budget? Are you planning on running them on an amp later on? Are you planning on getting a sub later on? What kind of music do you listen to? What size speaker is your stock size? Would you be ok with modifying your vehicle to accomodate more or bigger speakers? *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
ncc74656 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 the speakers will sound better but you wont be able to fully power them. so yes they will be higher SQ but not used to there full potential. I myself bought the alpine SPC-60 series and was sorely disappointed. i would recommend polk audio myself. crachendo also makes some component kits but if you never intend on amping them then thats a waste. if you ever think you want to go louder or amp them then buy larger than you think you need. if you know you never will then just buy a conservative set, say 85W or so. nothing, gutted
max785 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 Maybe i'll put my sundown sa-12 in the car again, but not for now. Maybe I'll run a amp for the comp. Various style ( pop , dubstep , metal , hip-hop ,ect ). It's an 01 dx civic but I don't know the speakers size. around 300 ? 2001 civic dx 2 X sa12's " 1 X aq1200d Knukonceptz 4 gauge , rca
ncc74656 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 if you have a 300.00 budget then id go with: http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-DB6501-6-5-Inch-Component/dp/B000P0R6LQ for your components. are you thinking of replacing all your speakers or just the fronts? how many speakers do you have, do you already have tweets? for an amp id buy somthing like this: http://www.amazon.com/MTX-2-Channel-170-Watt-Amplifier-THUNDER342/dp/B00009ENAC/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_3 take a look around at pawn shops, they generally sell MTX for cheap and its a rock solid brand. if you get one thats a bit over powered you have room to upgrade and if you ever need more control in your system you can add a second one and separate your tweets from your mids. you should be able to replace your front speakers and add an amp for less than 250.00 nothing, gutted
BobbyG2 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 If you wanted to go all sundown, it'll be slightly over budget but you could get a refurbished 125.2 from DB-r and a bstock set of sa6.5s from car stereo giant or emf audio. *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
max785 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 Are you sure Polk Audio DB6501 fit 2001 civic ? 2001 civic dx 2 X sa12's " 1 X aq1200d Knukonceptz 4 gauge , rca
ncc74656 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 if its got the infinity package with the tweets then yes, they should. if it does not then im not sure. i think all 01's had 6.5's and just the infinity had more power and a dedicated amp? just what i got from a real quick google search. edit: i dont know how far you want to go with speakers... myself i used a sawzall, grinder, spacer blocks and a welder to move my window motor, power locks, and modify my doors to accept a 10" mid with a 6.5" mount depth and and 6.5" magnet. modified my tweeter pillars to accept a 1" tweet from the factory 3/4". you can put any speaker you want in there if so choose to. nothing, gutted
max785 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 yes the car have tweeters 2001 civic dx 2 X sa12's " 1 X aq1200d Knukonceptz 4 gauge , rca
ncc74656 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 then ya it should fit. polks do not have a deep mount depth so that shouldn't be an issue. only thing i can see is the holes around the speakers not matching exactly or the tweets being to large for the plastic insert. on my truck i used a plastic cutting tip on my soldering gun to trim the dash to fit. nothing, gutted
