How Much Louder Will It Be???

Right now I have a Boss audio amp 'supposedly' putting out 460 watts rms to 2 kenwood 12's

I plan on getting a pioneer or hifonics amp putting out around 1200 watts rms @ 1 ohm to 2 pioneer 12's that can handle 600 rms.

I'm am going to be putting this in a lease, so thats why I am limited to to how much power I'll be running.

So my question is, will there be a noticeable difference in loudness from my first setup to my second setup?

The setup I have now is still pretty loud to me, but its time for an upgrade. I would go bigger, but cant upgrade electrical in a lease really... Thanks

If the boss actually put out rated, your more than doubling your power. That would give you a few db. But since the boss probably isn't doing half of its rated power, it "should" be significantly louder to you.

^ Best answer you will find.

SD, thank for the input. I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

study spl and how things work. your subs have an spl rating depending on how the coils are wired so lets say your sub is d4 wired in paralell has a 86db sensitivity now lets say you have those 2 wired together you now have 89 db sensitivity. theres also alot of factors that will take that sensitivity down your enclosure. spl ratings are @ 1w1m so with 1 watt input that setup SHOULD be 89 db then everytime you double power your spl should increase by 3. atleast thats how it works on paper.

more power more motor force = louder. enclosure has alot to do with it so id recomend getting a good box design program like bassbox6 - msg me ill show you where to get it- take the specs of the box or the subs site cause i doubt you have the means to test it. elsclosure and placement is everything though.

also remember that amp might not put out rated eather keep in mind amps make power at a certin voltage as well as a certin resistance ie your ohm load. so if its rated at 1200 its prolly 1200 rms @ 14.4v under a 1 ohm load so uall electrical will have to be able to keep that amp at that voltage anything under your making less power and i believe causing more distortion

my 2 cents

I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.
