Fi_all_d_way
hey guys see if you can help me out here. i got a 2.1 cubic box tuned at 37hz and i want to put polyfill in it. It is recommended 1.5lb per cubic foot for an enclosure under 3 cubic. So look at this...it is said that it will increase my box size by 30% by slowing down the air and making the sub woofer feel it's in a bigger box. 30% of 2.1 cubic = 0.63 cubic ..so my box will now be 2.1 cubic + 0.63 cubic = 2.73 cubic SO since my box just change from 2.1 >> 2.73 cubic with the same port...WOULD'NT THIS LOWER MY PORT FREQUENCY???? NOTE: A 2.1 cubic box with a port 30sq in x 24.25 in long = 37hz and a 2.73 cubic box with the same port area and length = 32.45hz can you guy put some feedback plz....thanks

bassboombottom
I put some of the fill in my old obcon box, and it sounded like it was..wel i cant reeally describe it.. it just didnt sound good. I know they use that stuff in bookshelf speakers to "add volume" to the box.. i had some old Sanyo speakers and the fill looked like a cross between fiberglass, the stuff for under your homes carpet, and asbestos 8v fury said:

aznboi3644
polyfill in ported boxes suck...its hard to figure out the real change but a simple solution is a better enclosure. 30% is just general percentage.
