ok guys if these pics don't work I apologize. im doing it the exact same way I did last time and the pics don't seem to be displaying like they should. so hopefully this works...

anyway. like the title says im running 4 sd10d2's in a 2013 wrx sedan off a aq2200d at 1ohm with dc 270xp HO alt and a d3400 under the hood and sky high 1/0. box is 5 cubes after all displacements and in this pic it was tuned to 32-33hz...

tonight I changed out the ports and put it around 37-40 hz because I wanted to see if I could get it a little louder...and so far it seems to be a little louder but not much. bottom line I have been somewhat impressed with it....its definitely loud and has no problems hitting under 30hz whatsoever...although anything under about 26-28hz you cant hear lol you just feel the speakers moving. I haven't been around hardly anybody that really has something that hits ridicoulously hard so idk if its just me or what but I feel like im not getting what I should out of my set up.i feel it can still do better. so I was looking at it tonight and here is a couple pics of the box in the car:

I don't know exactly how much this matters but there is hardly any room for the sound to come from the trunk into the cabin! there is about an inch from the top of the box to the opening of the trunk and about 2 inches on both sides of the box and that's it....so is it possible that the box is actually blocking quite a bit of the sound its making? has anyone ran into this? does anyone have any suggestions on what I can change to make my set up better?

Do the subs have clearance? Looks like they'd hit the trunk lid. And that's crammed man, how close are the ports to the back?

Ya they clear! Barely... They aren't flexing too too much so I haven't ha a problem with them hitting but they aren't getting full rms either... Wish I would have put more thought into it before I bought the amp... Didn't think about the fact that 2200rms is rated power but not clean power... Amp is just barely 3/4 the way up before it clips like crazy... Then add in whatever the box rise is and they are probably seeing about 350 rms a piece.... So that one kind of bit me in the ***

And ya it's definitely kramned! That's the other thing that made me think. I mean for what the space I'm working with it does really good! But I think it's too krammed and that's why I think it's not what it could be ya kno... I almost wander if I would get more output out of two of them at .5 ohm an sealed off from the trunk.... I'm not competing or anything just tryin to get as loud as possible for how much room I have...

Are the ports to the side?

If not can you turn it to the side?

How close are the ports the the nearest wall of the trunk?

Just a thought, you could port through the rear deck, maybe through factory speaker holes. That might help. It looks really pressed for space.

The gain being 3/4 the way up doesn't mean that's it's not doing the power it's rated, the gain knob doesn't work like that. And how did you test for clipping?

Subs up port back. The ports are roughly 4 inches from the trunk lid when it's closed. And no I can't turn it.

I set the amp with the dd1. And the gain knob has a clipping indicator... I have heard its not that accurate.. But idk. If I let the light blink for say about a minute the amp gets warm.

Your electrical sounds solid.

You have have good equipment.

You could be getting alot of rise. Or it could be that it's just so cramped that it doesn't have room to breathe.

Honestly I always had poor performance from subs up. Subs back and port either to the side or the back was the only way it sounded good to me. I have tried a lot of subs and boxes in my car. I have tried sealed off from the trunk a few times, never liked it. Granted That's all from my car with my ears and it could be totally different in your car. That said, it's a long shot but do you have the space to put all those subs facing the rear? Maybe staggered to reduce width of the box(like one higher, next lower, next higher, next lower). And port to the side.

Oh and those are 6 in aeros right?

See idk how to figure out box rise and how many watts are actually there!!

And yes they are 6 inch aeros I flared my self. And I can't stagger them like that I don't have the height :/ I won't lie this cars trunk SUCKS... I only have a height of 12.5 max to work with... Tonight I'm gonna try like what you said and turn the box to the side and see how it sounds. The box will be sticking out the trunk a good 8-10 inches but who cares right now at this point lol. If it helps then I definitely kno that the box is too big. I've really been contemplating on either running just to of them at .5 ohm OR puttin them in a 4th... I have enough room to have about a 2:1 4th for all four of em or I could make a big 4th for two of em. If I could grow enough balls I'd just wall the ish off lol

So if you turn it, it will have more room on the sides? If so it might just help. Try it and see.

Maybe your loud but just want more already. Lol.

A 2013 wrx is a badass car if it were me I wouldn't wall it off and put that much weight into that. Hell a 4th order might be what you need if you run all 4 in the trunk, being the space is limited. I've never ran a 4th but it seems theres a lot of rebuilding with them, usually. If you have the time to build a box for 2 or even 3 subs just to try it why not? I'd go subs facing back if possible.

If I turn it ill have roughly 8 inches of room on one side which is alot more then what I have now so we will see. I got a month or two before I can build another box.. Gotta love owing taxes. An it is a bad ass car I love it! That's why I don't wanna wall it off lol I've built a 4th order before and was actually surprise by it so I got a pretty decent understanding of them and when built right they can be monsters. But that is a definitely a good idea man I mean what's the worst that can happen besides it not work right lol

Well if I turn it I should have about a solid 8 inches on one side which is alot more room then what I have now. And it is a very nice car I love it! That's why I don't want to wall it off. Idk ill turn it and see how it does. I've built a 4th already and got a pretty good understanding of how they work. But I like ur idea an if turning it doesn't yield any more result then it will be back to the drawing board!
