hey all, sorry if this has been gone over, I've not been into audio for years :(. I have decided to add a sub to my genesis sedan, but I cannot replace the head unit. what's the hotness in factory integration boxes today? I have no plans to replace the speakers, etc. just want some bass!

thanks

you will have to perform surgery on some wires and tie in a line converter to be able to hook up some RCA's to give a signal to the amp.

I just did it on a G35 coupe on the factory bose system, you have to locate the correct wires, lengthen them then tie in teh converter, soldering everything along the way, and using black electrical tape to be sure everything is very sturdy.

The audiocontrol lc2i is a good one.

Yea that unit will deliver a clean signal for sure.

I actually used a scosche line conveter in my car before adding the aftermarket HU, it worked well, I am using that unit in the G35 right now, we will probably get one of those audio controls though

It you use an amp that can accept high level direct you don't need a line level converter. Rockford Prime, Punch, Punch BR all can do this as well as some JL models. I am sure there are others out there.

2010 Mazda 3s 2.5L

Pioneer DEH-X9600BHS

Knu OFC 1/0

SS Platinum AGM / XS Power XP750

Alpine PDX F-4 / Morel Maximo 5 + Coax 5

IA 10.1 / SSA XCON 12

Ya i have the lc6i and it has a clean signal with up to 9.5v output. I used to have some scosche converters until i got my dd-1 and realized they produced a dirty signal.
