One Way Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 I have these RE audio XXX components in my ride with the crossovers mounted inside the doors. Problem i have now is that since i mounted them inside the doors the bass and midbass rattled the shit out of them and got some pieces loose, it also broke a piece off. Now first things first, i have no clue as to what each part inside the crossover does. So please help me out with what im dealing here. Also, can the the existing problems be fixed? I dont know how to solder, but will try in order to fix them. the problem is only on the drivers crossover the other is still intact (at least for now) since i dont know what each part does inside the crossover, why is the component system still working even though it has a piece broken off? also every time i wiggle that blue piece it makes my tweeter distort in and out as you can hear in the video below. if i am able to salvage the crossovers i will move them somewhere inside the car (not in doors anymore) to prevent this issue to happen again. One Way Posted July 13, 2013 Author Report Posted July 13, 2013 pull them and solder all the joints then hit the component in the crossover with a hightemp hot glue or silicone to prevent this from happening again would i solder from the back right? where all the points are connected, or is there a different way? also after everything is fixed youre saying to attack every little component in there with hot glue to prevent it from vibrating right? One Way Posted July 14, 2013 Author Report Posted July 14, 2013 Now my only concern is will it sound the same as it did before it came off? And what exactly came apart? T-line build- http://www.stevemead...e-t-line-build/
One Way Posted July 15, 2013 Author Report Posted July 15, 2013 Bump? T-line build- http://www.stevemead...e-t-line-build/
mrd6 Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 If its the same components and you restore the connections in the correct place in the circuit then yes it will sound the same. As to what broke off? Idk, you tell us lol. Your thumb is over the blue component in all the pics so I assume that's the problem one but since it is covered up it is hard to see. Does it have any markings or units printed on it? My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...-sundown-power/ Team NorthWestSPL
One Way Posted July 15, 2013 Author Report Posted July 15, 2013 Nothing marked on it. The reason I wiggle it on the video is to demonstrate that any lil vibration makes it distort and sound bad. So when in normal driving conditions bumps here and there makes it act up. The the other things I have no I head what it does so I'm looking for more insight for that T-line build- http://www.stevemead...e-t-line-build/
