mgbadboyz Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Maybe someone can help me out here. I have a 1990 dodge Dakota with a single sa 12 running on a hifonics Brutus 1200 with zero gauge wiring. I've noticed sometimes when I start the truck the volt meter seems a little low. When this happens the sub doesn't seem to hit as hard as normal. After driving for 15 minutes or so the gauge will flip out for about 5-10 seconds and the headlights dim and flicker and the truck starts charging above 15. All my grounds and connections are good on bare metal with no paint. Only thing I can think of is the ground from the battery to the body is very thin. Very very thin. My speaker wire is thicker lol. Could this be the issue?
Bump4life Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 its possible that is the issue. a lot of stock charging systems sucked back in the day. try doing the big 3 in 4 gauge or 0 gauge if you plan on upgrading in the future and see if that solves your problem.
