Swordlordboy1234 Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Is that even proper English? I already explained it. JakeSmith Posted July 14, 2013 Author Report Posted July 14, 2013 I just want to know how i can push my power to my sub without clipping and distortion and getting 1000rms to it. the sub cant get 1000rms with the gain at 5v
JakeSmith Posted July 14, 2013 Author Report Posted July 14, 2013 and why does everyone want high output instead of low output?
Noel989 Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 All you have to do is get a dd-1 simple And the higher your RCA voltage is the lower the gain knob positioning will be And don't pay attention to the clipping indicator Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/
Swordlordboy1234 Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 More power? Bigger amp. Cleaner signal (not more power but could sound better) then get a line driver or a headunit with a higher pre out voltage. Gain turned left does not mean more power. Gain is not a power knob, the gains only purpose is to match the amp with the voltage being fed to it. Nothing more. Technically the only reason they have a gain is so people can choose their headunit they want. For instance. Imagine if the amp only put out max power when given 5 volts of input voltage on its RCA's. and it was a 1000 watt amp. Lets say you had a headunit that gave 2.5volts. Then when you set it up, you would only get half power. You would have to get a headunit that feeds 5v to get full potential out of the headunit. To avoid that, amp companies gave you a gain, so you can pick your own headunit and always get full power. But the higher the gain, the more the signal is amplified, and amplified signals don't always sound awesome, so you want to get a headunit that doesn't force the amp gain to be set super high. Hence why cheap headunits have a 2v pre out. And good headunits have a 4v or higher output. That's about as good of an explanation as I can give. Noel989 Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Also hows your electrical? Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/
JakeSmith Posted July 14, 2013 Author Report Posted July 14, 2013 so if i had a 5v output i could set my gain all the way to the left? i just dont get how you get more power when its at .15v. and i havent done anything to my truck yet for electrical.
JakeSmith Posted July 14, 2013 Author Report Posted July 14, 2013 it just doesnt seem like my sub is getting the full 1200rms
Swordlordboy1234 Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 If you had 5v pre out on your headunit then you could USE A DD1 to set your gains but it would have your gains lower because of your better headunit, allowing it to sound cleaner then if you had a cheaper headunit with higher gains... More power also needs electrical bro. Big 3 upgrade. OFC 1/0 wires, alternators, batteries. Other wise your not getting 14.4 volts to your amp power so it can't put out max power even if you gave it 5v pre out in the RCA's.
