Thor Olson Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 I'm new to the forum. This is my first post actually. I have just a regular Pioneer HU that iv'e had for about a year now and recently, out of the blue it just wouldn't power up at all. I tried moving the ground and such along with tracing for a short somewhere and came up empty handed. The funny thing is though, when i plug it in to the wiring harness, my amps turn on but my HU does not. Even when my key isn't even in, and i plug it in they still turn on. I'm uncertain to weather this is a head unit fault or problem, or if the problem lies within the wiring harness. All of the harness connections are soldered and nothing has been touched since the first install. The remote wire/connection is nice and strong as well. Thanks for the feedback in advance.
hdorre Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 Did you try powering up the radio directly to a battery or other 12v source? Just hook up the batt and acc wires to pos and the gnd to neg. Thor Olson Posted July 16, 2013 Author Report Posted July 16, 2013 Yeah, no such luck. Didn't power up.
mothra Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 if you can try a different head unit to see if it turns on in your car. if it the other HU powers up and run everything than your HU just died. if it doesn't that there is something in the wiring (fuse, grounded power wire, etc...). i personally hate trouble shooting b/c it's usually a lot of work for little result. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
