Hey guys. I have a friend who owns a Opel Astra 2001 4 door sedan. I designed a box for him with 2 ground zero gzrw30spl @ 36 hz using torres. Ive bult it and now is the problem... it sounds like crap, its not loud at all and at a certain level the woofers move uncontrolled. Amplifier is a dragster DAA2201 2200 rms @ 1 ohm. Hu is a pineer new model dont remember exact model 4 v preouts etc. Ive done some tests and im not distorting gain was set properly etc.

Ive made a very similar box for another friend but it sound very good and loud only with 1000 rms. He has a ford focus hatchback.

I dont have much experience with sedan cars and i dont know what to do... ive modified the port dimensions and placing several times with no succes.

I need your sugestions with this please.

How do i have to place the subs? up? forward? back? how about the port? I have to mention that trunk is sealed from the interior the only hole is the visiting hole from the arm rest witch can be removed, With it removed it olso sounds louder.

I am waiting for your input in this... i think its my worst box that ive built...

Maybe joe x can help me with a desing or some suggestions for sedans?

This sistem will be used just for music never for db drag or else.

Prefered music is decafs, dubstep etc so preffered tuning i think will be 33 - 36 hz.

Thanks!

Just post a sketch with all the parts dimensions of your current setup. A simple pic of a hand made drawing will do.

So my current box is: subs are facing up and the port is facing forward. the port is just in the middle of the box and blows through the arm rest hole.

Here is my torres design:

I also have problems with enclosure position in the trunk. If i push it to the backrest it sounds like crap but if i drag it fully back and leave more space between the sub and the backrest it starts to sound much better but still not near like it does in the ford...

Maybe if i try do a slotport box would help?

well there are no common walls of the port i just said its firing forward and its centered on the box. the print that ive posted its made last night after i measured the box again. i didnt input woofers displacements because it doesnt affect almost at all the tuning. maybe 0.5 hz rise.

So you say that my port area its too small for my 2 12"... hmm maybe this is one problem...

Ive played a little more with torres and this box and it looks like the box is too small if i want to have lets say 13 sq in per ft3 it @ 36 hz. i cant fit the port on the box....

What about this? Port firing forward with 3 common walls, subs up?

I dont know what to say i will measure the trunk again to see if im able to fit a larger box in there. I have space for almost 2 boxes like this but the problem is that this one enters through the trunk opening almost at limit.

you need to add mor port area per foot

Then i think i have to make a larger box... i need a minimum 3.7 ft3 net space for those 2 12". I will measure again and make sure that if i do a larger box i will be able to fit it in the trunk thru the opening and maybe then i can achieve 3.7 net with at least 13 sqin area per ft3.
