What wire is it? I'm assuming it's a wire since I didn't hear any belt slip. That may be indicative of your low voltage though. Double check all of your connections, take them off, make sure there is no corrosion or anything and that they have solid contact to the metal underneath You said your voltage was 12.8v for this test? That's what I would expect to see. Not the 11.8v that was present before. Shigshwa Posted July 22, 2013 Author Report Share Posted July 22, 2013 (edited) Looks like I've figured it out. a rubber sleeve from my alternator wire got caught in between the terminals, and started smoking up.
