Think I figured out wiring I need - input is appreciated!

hey man good to see another member throwing a system into a Subaru...

everything looks good.

for the sub you could probably run that all the way down to 20 hertz and all the way up to ~200 I've here'd one in action before in a older guys car around here sounded nice really didn't have much boom but it was nice and crisp. almost like a good extra mid bass punch.

cool, thanks for the input man! I've heard these subs are awesome, and that the `boom`you get kind of depends on the box. Was the one you heard in a sealed or ported box? I guess I'm kinda getting past the low frequency BOOM sound and like the hard hits with a little low frequency here and there. I don't need to rattle screws out of the car because as you know, subies already rattle enough on their own :P

it was sealed and im pretty sure he had it at 6 ohms on like 200 watts, it sounded nice,

for sound quality sealed is probably your best friend however if your not so tied up ported will give you the boom when you want it.

and just throwing in a option.. you can look at

a DAD BD 10' ... not a comlete sq woofer but it DOES sound great. id say there SQL. what you want right ?

cool cool, I may just go sealed, save space and get the response I would want. Worst case, I try it, and if I don't love it I can rebuild a ported box for it...I mean building boxes isn't super expensive...I'm just dying to get some good sound up in my Subaru, especially with my new Pioneer head unit that looks so damn good :D

awesome thanks! I used up the last of the fatmat I had in my front doors this weekend. I would like to get a little more to put in the trunk and maybe a small amount around the rear door speakers but trying not to spend too much money on this since I really really want an exhaust and some other toys for performance :P

oh yeah and agreene, I just realized you said the guy was only pushing 200W, which is barely naything for that sub! I'm pretty sure that if I'm feeding it 800+ watts, it will sound even better than his did :P

Now one last thing would be the type of 1/0 Knu wire to buy. Again I want to spend as least possible on the wiring, I figure the Knu KCA wire (which is CCA and approved for 250A) should be more than sufficient for the power I plan to use (1000w rms maybe for the mono amp and 300-400 rms maximum for 4-channels). I read a few threads on here about the cca vs solid copper (kolossus flex) but many said that Knu's KCA cable is sufficient and that it's good stuff (plus it's half the price of the Kolossus flex)

OFC is always best

CCA is GOOD you just got to be careful on your amperage pull.

you will be more then fine for KNU KCA CCA

Perfect, I'll go with the 1/0 KCA then, because, (and I mean this for real) I won't ever be upgrading for more audio. I'm more into performance than audio so this system will be the only one I put into the STI :D

Okay, I actually saw that Knukonceptz had a 1/0-gauge amp wiring kit which saves me about $20.00 off buying the stuff I need and gives me everything I need more or less. Here is what I am about to order;

Item # Product Name Remove QTY Price Total KCA-PK0 KCA 1/0 Power Amplifier Installation Kit (200A) Btn_x.gif $54.99

KARSS4.6M Karma SS 4 Channel 6 Meter RCA Cable Btn_x.gif $22.49

ANL80 Silver Plated 80 Amp ANL Fuse Btn_x.gif $5.99

ANL150 Silver Plated 150 Amp ANL Fuse Btn_x.gif $5.99

total is $89 before shipping, not bad

I'm assuming the 17ft of power wire will be enough to get back to the distr. block in my trunk, then a short run from distr. block to mono amp in the subaru? The 6M RCA cable should also be more than long enough for my 4-ch amp from the head unit (extra slack is always good) the two fuses are for the distr. block (80A for my JBL GTO1004, and the 150A for my DPX11551)

looks all good, are you planning to run a jumper from your 4 channel to your mono block, for your RCA's?

nope, when insurance replaced my sound system about 6 years ago that got stolen in my civic, they supplied me with some sick Monster RCA cables for my mono amp (didn't have a 4-channel amp) so basically I already have some very good RCA cables for my mono amp. I also have a bunch of speaker wire left over from my last car, but speaker wire is cheap to buy locally anyway and I don't think I need any special kind of speaker wire (or so I've heard)...12-14-Gauge should suffice I think.
