my question is how wide do I cut wood to put 45's in my box? my box is 48 wide by 40 long by 23 tall. i'm using 3/4 mdf. and would like to know actually how much cu ft they are actually taking up in this box. box is 19.72 cu ft after sub displacement and bracing. never done 45's so will it make a big difference in sound? port is gonna be 10 by 12 around 120 sq in of port, tuning is gonna be around 34 hz.

What are you building for? What subs, just curious with what port area is. How many subs do you plan on putting in this space?

That seems like very little port for 4 18s. I would think like double that for the cone area you have.

And to address your original question, 45s don't take up much as far as displacement. I don't run 45s and probably never will. You can bust out the trigonometry to figure out your displacement based on how long you want to cut your pieces for the 45.

Lol I don't kno trigonometry. So I'm screwed. I can go bigger on port but just can't go bigger on box. It's goin in a 05 tahoe. My current box is 48x40x27 with port bein around 80 sq in. It wuz my first build and didn't kno too much bout tuning and port area. I'm still learnin with the help of the guys of this forum.

Why build a box? Wall it :D

Nothing for now...

Did you get that scar tissue when you got your vagina installed?

I'd grab Adam's ass and look him in the eyes for a demo of nates truck.

When I work some quick numbers, I get 256 inche of port tuned at 35 Hz with a rough volume of 18 cubes net. I'd so a port that runs the partial width of the box. About 32" wide by about 8" port width.
