Inverted subwoofers

I was wondering what the pros/cons, if any, of mounting a subwoofer upside down are? as in, having the magnet, basket, voice coil etc outside of the enclosure.

i think its more for looks , as some woofers have a sexy ass , but more space in the box

It might be for more airspace, but i just dont see why/how it would be efficient.

Subwoofer performace should be exactly the same, but here are some differences:

Less displacment from the magnet (as it is not in the box anymore) so the box seems slightly larger.(we are talking .14cubes here, small stuff)

Better cooling of the subwoofers magnet/cone (as it can get fresh air from outside, as opposed to a sealed box, or ported)

A unique look (most pple dont inver their subs it is a great way to show off your beefy magnet, or to emphasize that you dont need to have befy subs for clean sound (depending on your preferences)

It is easy to wire/re-wire

Thats all i can think of

I would recommend trying it, see how it sounds, and decide from there!

Would anyone know if you rever phase them when inverted? Being that they would be kicking in instead? Or it doesn't matter? lol

you change phase 180* I would just change settings on your headunit if you can, but alot of amps have a setting for phase adjustment too
