We have a well, and while we were in Florida getting our horses, the house pump burnt up. We bought a new pump, primed it several dozen times, but cant get any water pressure. We have the line coming in from the well to the pump, the outlet line going to a small holding tank that is pressurized. The pressure in the tank was at 18PSI, because the pump puts out 20PSI... Its supposed to be 2PSI below pump pressure... CAN ANYONE HELP?? We've been without water for 4 days now and need it for our dogs (3) and Horses (4)... White Lightning Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 You old well pump most likely burnt up because (from what you are telling us) the well could have possibly run dry ... and the pump uses the water it's pulling up as a cooling system, so when it run out of water, it got too hot ... You may need to call someone out to check the well for a water stream and / or find a new water stream (dig a new well somewhare else in the area) ... Have you actually verified by a well company that the well is still active with water ??? We have had SEVERAL wells in our family land over the years ... and they never just "burned up" for no aparent reason ... We have had SEVERAL wells in our family land over the years ... and they never just "burned up" for no aparent reason ... Not sure why it burnt up... motor lost a bearing... when I dug it up yesterday, it was full of water, thats one reason I think it has water... But, then again, Im no expert... I really have no fuckin clue as to whats up with it... We got pressure 2x and it was flowing, only the bladder tank wasnt filling and we'd lose pressure as soon as we opened a faucet...
Jessica Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 So, you have some blockage somewhere? Is the bladder tank rusted through somewhere? If the bladder expands it may seal the hole off, then as you pull water out of it the hole gets exposed and then you have a sudden loss of pressure. big dee Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 It sound that ether the pump needs priming or the presure regulator is out of adjustment . It looks kind like one on an air compresser. Should be two springs with a nut on the top. Should be close to the pump motor

big dee Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 Or it can be the check valve leaking down not letting it hold presure. It's like a one way valve if it is blocked that can be your issue
