Questions about my setup

Just trying to make sure I am wiring up my electrical the right way. Currently have a ’11 Chevy Tahoe and have my stock alt plus a DC Power 270XP under the hood. My stock electrical and audio electrical are completely separated as I didn’t want to run the risk of messing any of the trucks components up while beefing up my sound system. As it stands my stock battery and alt simply run the truck nothing more.

My DC Power Alt runs off of a D3400 up front and wired to what will be 3 D3100's in the rear. Two runs of positive and negative 0 gauge to the rear from the front battery to the rear battery’s. Rear batteries are grounded by 4x0 gauge cables to the frame of the truck.

When I first started working out how I wanted the wire up the system I went with this cause I figured that it would be a safer way for me to not damage any existing stock components. Also I am fused up front under the hood next to the battery (300 amp both positive lines). Fused again just before the rear batteries by another set of 300 amp fuses on both lines and fused again after the batteries just before the amps with another set of 300 amp fuses.

I have not had any problems with the setup by trade I am a RF engineer, but I don’t claim to think I know everything either so I like to err on the side of caution. I am powering a Crescendo BC5500D @ 1ohm on 2 ZCON 15’s and MB Quart 4.80 @ 2ohms running 2 JBL components sets.

My plan though is to run the BC5500D an .5 ohm already bought a Crescendo C1104.4 to replace the MB Quart 4.80. Replaced the 2 sets of JBL Components with 3 sets of Crescendo CZ series components which run @ 4 ohms instead of 2. Think my electrical will be good enough may add another D3100. I am mainly a daily driver, but man when I want the power I like to bang. But if there are any suggestions for a better way to run my electrical I am more than receptive to any advice.

Your setup seems adequate. It's definitely NOT overkill, which is the standard for some, however I don't think you're hurting anything either.

you probably arent going to hear any difference between running 1ohm vs .5ohm. You will have to recone your subs or buy new ones to do that and at the cost of that the gain isn't probably going to be worth it unless you are just chasing numbers on the meter.

Are your 15's Dual 1's or Dual 2's?

You need dual 2's if you want them at 0.5 ohms to the 5500.

If they are dual ones, You can wire them to 1 ohm or 4 ohms/

You would need to recone to dual 2's to wire at 0.5 ohm.

Yeah i see what you mean. Wiring lower more than likely wont happen, but in the off chance i did decide to wire it down further i wanted to know if my electrical would support it. More than likely i will stay @ 1ohm as it is more then enough for me, but you never know.
