2005 SCION XB 1st GEN WALL BUILD "B" PILLAR - BUILD #2

OK, so I did my 1st build in this same XB at the "C" pillar back in April, 2013, but after a several months on failing attempts to make the area between the "C" & "B" pillars flow together, so I said screw it. I moved the setup to the "B" Pillar.

If you need to see how I got started on the original build, please see this link.

So, to move everything up to the "B" pillar, the platform had to be extended.

We took the existing box from 1st build and added side panels that extend further out from the box, to give the front a lip.

8BBACCA1-F74F-4016-BC8A-87A54190D283-118

we added another 3/4" birch sheet to the front and added 45's to the corners of the front face

We rolled the seams with bondo... (my best bud JAS jumping in there sanding his happy ass off)

Next was to seal off the cabin area... I stretched felt and hot glued it to the plastic pieces of the "A" pillar and rolled it into the back of the door. See next 2 pics..

The felt was cut back 1/2 of the front face board. The next day, i laid down 2 layers of matt to made it a permanent part of the box.

And this is what it looks like with the subs in...The picture may look like it's distorted, but I took it leaning sideways.. sorry :(

Inside of the box will be painted and the outer frame of the box will have some type of cloth. What kinda? Idk yet. haven't made up my mind.

I will get some pics of the back end shortly . Since the last build, I have added a new HO alternator and 4 Kinetic batteries (which are in the hatch now)

So I clamped the car, right now until my other rockford T2000 is fixed, a buddy let me borrow his Saz-1500. We clamped it today running off

the yellow top battery under the hood.. (When moving the wires to the back, My battery bank was drained because brightboy here didnt have a good ground).

It was clamped at 1223 watts, voltage dropped to 12.6 and the box rise was 1.22 ohms.

The term lab registered it at 143.6 on dash 145 in the kick on 40hz tone. I swear, this best is loud as hell on 1233 watts, Im going to hate to hear it

on a good 2500 watts

I am changing out the setup now, I'm going all DD audio... The speakers will be last on the list, but for now I have ordered my amps.

The subs are going to be (4) DD 3512's and I will have (4) M1C amps, one amp for each sub.

Here is the back wall that was started on this evening. Next item on the agenda is going to wrap the ends of the box into the hatch pillar and start on

making my easy to remove trim pieces..
