Wizzy Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Hello guys. I have some problems with those 2 woofers. I have a ported box 2.7 ft3 tuned to 33.5 hz. Problem is that i think its very small for those 2 12. In the manual it says 1.3 net per sub. Isnt that too small? It doesnt hit the lows like it should. From 38 to 45 it sounds loud. But at 30 - 35 hz the woofers move a lot but it doesnt flex the car almost at all and i cant feel almost any pressure inside the car. What do you guys think? Can i make a bigger box? Something like 1.7 - 2 ft3 per sub? tuned to 32 - 33hz? I play a lot of decafs. The car is a Volkswagen Golf 4 hatchback 4 doors. Maybe joe can help:D Thanks.
CleanSierra Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Those are Dual 2 ohm subs right? What final ohm load are you running them at? Yes you could build a new box with more airspace, but what are your current box specs? Width, height and depth please, as well as the port size and total port length of you know it. Where did your box come from, was it custom made or is it a prefab? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

Joe X Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 If you are giving around rated power to the subs you can do a 2 cubes net per sub, no problem, 32Hz tuning would be ok for low tuned music.
CleanSierra Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Disregard my comment about 1.8 cubes. You can bump it up to a fill 4 cubic feet net to get 2.0 cubes to each sub. Everything else looks fine. You are not going to destroy lows with a couple of Type R's, but you will have quite a musical setup. Flexing a car with a couple of Type R 12s would be some feat, it's OK that you aren't getting it done. It may be time for you to step up to something a bit better. Do you have enough room to have subs up, port back to the hatch, while still having enough clearance(at least the width of the port) for the port to fire back? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
tribe523 Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 its 1.5 if you have the 4 th gen grey ones
Wizzy Posted August 26, 2013 Author Report Posted August 26, 2013 Maybe my math just sucks, but I'm seeing about 1.85 cubic feet per sub, which should be fine. Yes i have enough space for subs up and port back but i would like to do it subs back port back with a center port. What do you think? Its 1.3 net per sub. I was thinking 1.7 - 2.0 net per sub.
CleanSierra Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 I would suggest making a bigger box, yes. And subs back port back can work I suppose. You might as well try building one first with more airspace and see if you like it. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Wizzy Posted August 26, 2013 Author Report Posted August 26, 2013 Ok then what do you think about this?: The numbers are with decimals because i use cm as measuring unit:D
CleanSierra Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Looks pretty good, if that's the tuning you want Ok. I would tune higher in that car. I'd still stay around 35 in that car. It's your build though and your preference. And I knew the weird measurements were probably due to a metric conversion. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
