jeepbass1 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Share Posted September 10, 2013 So my sub box is flexing still in the center of the top baffle that is 1" thick..... It has over 2 layers of fiberglass supporting it and bed lined on top of that..... I also have a 1"x1" solid oak support running front to back of the box holding the front baffle in place.... I think its time to add another 3/4" to the baffle to strengthen it....Hopefully that helps....Any IDEAS.... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

jeepbass1 Posted October 5, 2013 Author Report Share Posted October 5, 2013 Major update's....So I pretty much took apart the sub box and reinforced everything.... 3 layers of fiberglass.... and braced the inside seams with 1"x1" birch..New box size is about 5.5cuft tuned to around 29ish hertz....The front of the sub box is 1.5" thick mdf and birch and the top baffle is 2.5'thick birch and everything is hex bolted into place....Getting ready for the bolt'sBolt's inBig 45hz port lolGetting there...Bolt on front panels....Another baffle....lol this thing is gonna be indestructible...Sub's inverted....sexiness with the 29hz port ( not finalized yet) Finished pic... I have 3 different ports a 45 hertz port that is 10x8 a 35 hertz port that is 10x5.5 and a 29 hz port that is 6.25x6.25" i think you are a little misunderstood as far as box tuning goes. you can only shrink your port so much to get a lower tuning. generally you will want a decent sized port, but make it LONGER to lower tuning. right now your at around 5.5sq inches of port per cube, which is way too small.. People tend to think the "port per cube" rule of thumb is garbage, but its just a rule of thumb. CAR AUDIO COMPANIES such as Fi and Sundown recommend a starting point of around 12-14sq inches of port per cube for a daily tune. I've went as low as 10 per with great results. I hope this helps. I under-stand this completely this was meant to test what that port tuning would do in my vehicle..... the port is not finalized at this time... thankyou for the advice though...
