Bus Bar Thickness?

Recommended Posts

I'm tossing around the idea of using bus bar instead of traditional distribution blocks because of the amount of devices I plan to run. The thickest aluminum bars are 1/4" locally. I'm sure I can buy them online, but I'm trying to get this install going. Does the aluminum thickness make the bar more/less conductive?

quarter inch, i used it for around 650rms.

If you were running 2000rms, would you have a thicker bar?

I would try them, not depend too much because I don't know about how much it can conduct and what would happen if it was too small, possibly heat up? Mine were always stone cold, maybe someone else can chime in. These have worked excellent for me, I wouldn't see why they wouldn't for you.

LOL...and there you have it.

Alloy, make sure you get 6061! Conducts better than 6063.

The stuff in the store was made by Steelworks. It just said aluminum bar. It didn't specify if it was 6061.
