question about wattage on comp sets

So I am trying to plan out my new system and heres what I am trying to do. I want to buy two sets of component speaks and I have a 3sixty.3 ..what I want to do is use my 3sixty as an active crossover and completely eliminate the passive crossovers altogether. I would like to wire my 8 mids and 8 tweets in parallel to my 4 channel amp.(2tweets directly to a channel and two mids directly to a channel) to create a 2 ohm load with 4 ohm speakers. Then set crossover points on the 3sixty. I have 1 big question which will help me decide which comp sets to buy. QUESTION: when a comp set is labeled as being 100watts rms each does that mean the tweeter is 50w and the mid is 50w or does it mean that each tweet is 100w and each mid is 100w?

That means that when you hook up those comps... you should feed them exactly 100 watts to the passive cross over. And depending on their ohm loads and resistors the passive crossover apportions the power out correctly and safely. A better example of a 100 watt comp vs actual power its seeing MIGHT BE

woofer 70 watts

tweeter 20 watts

crossover (eating) 10 watts

passive cross overs need to steal some watts to power themselves.

so r u suggesting that I continue to use the passive crossover or should I do it the way I planned..the amp puts out 115w per channel at 2 ohms or 75w per channel at 4

i wasnt suggesting anything. I was educating you that a 100 watt comp is not 100watts per woofer and tweeter. Its 100 total watts. Apportioned to the woofer tweeter and cross over properly. So if you were to run active instead of passive you should not run over 80-100 watts per woofer and over 20-25 watts per tweeter since there is no crossover to protect you.

Also If you use the passive cross over. You cant over power them a shit ton.

Okay I get u..so looks like Im going to have to either get comosets that have a high enough wattage to run off the amp without burnin up and maybe buy a lower wattage 2ch amp to push the tweets

1 more question..if the set is 4 ohms..does that mean that the tweet and the speaker are each 8 ohms and they create a 4 ohm load when wired in parallel through the passive crossover..? Or are they both 4 ohms each?
